Carter George is an ice hockey goaltender presently associated with Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Notably, his exploits with Owen Sound Attack garnered significant recognition for his exceptional skills as a goaltender which has made him one of the top goaltending prospects available for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Importantly, he began his career with the Thunder Bay Kings U15 AAA team in the 2020-21 season before moving to U16 AAA team in the 2021-22 season. For the 2022-23 season, George joined the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) with the St. Marys Lincolns, where he played 17 games while registering stats of 2.74 GAA, and a .910 save percentage. Remarkably, he transitioned to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Owen Sound Attack in the same season where he played 10 games, with a 2.41 GAA, and a .924 save percentage. Carter George is of Canadian nationality and represents Canada on the international stage. George made his international debut for Canada in the summer of 2023 with the national under-18 team at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Additionally, he played in all five games during the tournament, achieving a .891 save percentage. Notably, he made 31 crucial saves in the 3–2 overtime victory against the Czech Republic in the final which helped Canada claim the gold medal a the competition. The following summer, George rejoined Team Canada for the 2024 IIHF World U18 Championships as the starting goaltender and led the team to a gold medal. Carter George was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada to parents Mike and Tara George, former hockey players. Interestingly, Mike was a goaltender too who played in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League during the late 1980s and the early 1990s. His mother, Tara, won bronze at the 2009 Olympic Trials and Bronze at the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
