Charlie McAvoy is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who, as of 2024, serves as an alternate captain for the Boston Bruins in the NHL. He was drafted 14th overall by the Bruins in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Before turning professional, McAvoy played for the New York Rangers minor ice hockey team in the 2010 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament and later committed to Boston University in August 2013. McAvoy spent two seasons with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and excelled in college hockey. He represented the USA and won a gold medal at the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships and a bronze at the 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
