Selected seventh overall by the Coyotes in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Keller hails from Chesterfield, Missouri, and was raised in Swansea, Illinois.

Keller transitioned to the professional ranks, joining the Arizona Coyotes for the latter part of the 2016–17 season.
