Clayton Keller is an American professional ice hockey forward playing for the Arizona Coyotes in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on July 29, 1998, Clayton attended Shattuck-Saint Mary where he began his hockey career and later joined the USA Hockey Team Development Program in 2014. During his tenure with the NTDP, he set program records with 189 points across two seasons.

Despite an opportunity to play in the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires, Clayton decided to attend Boston University to play college ice hockey. Notably, he was drafted seventh overall by the Coyotes in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft while Clayton was in his freshman season with Boston University. He made his NHL debut on March 27, 2017, against the St. Louis Blues and has evolved himself as a promising player, earning multiple NHL All-Star Game honors since his debut.

Jake Keller is the brother of Clayton Keller. Jake is four years younger than Clayton.

Jake Keller was born on July 30, 2002, in Swansea, Illinois, and is currently pursuing a career in the same sport as his older brother. Jake Clayton began his youth hockey journey with the St. Louis Blues U13 AAA team in 2015-16 and progressed through the U14, U15, and U16 teams before having a stint with Belleville Township in the 2018-19 season. Jake, then played at Wayzata High School between 2019-21

In 2019-20, he joined the North American Hockey League with the Minnesota Magicians and signed with the New Mexico Ice Wolves for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. As of March 2024, Jake is playing at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in the AAU league for the 2023-24 season.

Clayton Keller's Family

Clayton and Jake Keller were born to parents Bryan and Kelley Keller four years apart. They were raised in Swansea, Illinois. Moreover, Kelley worked as a paralegal and Bryan was into business while the Keller brothers were growing up. Nonetheless, Bryan and Kelley provided their full support to their sons, transforming the home's basement into a hockey rink where the Keller brothers practiced.

Clayton and Jake's maternal grandfather Bill Simpson also played a key role during their development in hockey and provided companionship and mentorship to both his grandchildren. Their grandfather worked as a systems director for McDonnell Douglas, where he served for around three decades.

Moreover, he took the Keller brothers to their practices and games whenever possible. He also made them ham and cheese sandwiches with chips or they would stop Lion’s Choice and grab Clayton a beef sandwich alongside his favorite dipping sauce. Unfortunately, the Keller brothers lost their grandfather in 2015. Their grandmother was named Sherry, however details regarding her life and career are not known.
