Evason was also a Jack Adams Award finalist in 2020-21.
Before the Wild, he was an assistant coach for the Washington Capitals from 2005-2012 and head coach of the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals from 2012-2018. Internationally, he coached Team Canada to gold at the 2024 IIHF World Championships and won gold as a player in 1997. As a player, Evason spent 13 NHL seasons with 372 points in 803 games and later played in Europe. He is married to Genevieve and has three children and two grandsons.

Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager
According to the NHL, Don Waddell was named the president of hockey operations, general manager, and alternate governor of the Columbus Blue Jackets on May 28, 2024. He signed a multi-year contract and succeeded John Davidson, who transitioned to a senior advisor and alternate governor role. Waddell brings over four decades of experience in hockey, having previously served as team president and general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes. Under his leadership, the Hurricanes became one of the NHL’s most successful teams, with six playoff appearances, three division titles, and two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Waddell has won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings as an assistant general manager, managing the Atlanta Thrashers, and working with USA Hockey in various capacities, including as general manager for Team USA at the 2006 Winter Olympics. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he played collegiate hockey at Northern Michigan University and spent nine seasons as a professional player.
