The Columbus Blue Jackets, also known as the Jackets are a professional ice hockey team based in Columbus, Ohio. They currently compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) under the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference, playing their home games at Nationwide Arena. Moreover, the team is owner by John P. McConnell, who is the son of John H. McConnell, the founder of the Jackets. The team is currently led by head coach Pascal Vincent and captain Boone Jenner with John Davidson taking care of general manager duties on interim basis. Despite their playoff struggles, they are known for sweeping the Tampa Bay Lightning (Presidents' Trophy holders at that time) in the 2019 to become the first team to sweep the Presidents' Trophy winner in the first round. Moreover, the team presently has only one minor league affiliate in the form of Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The Columbus Blue Jackets have reached the playoff six times in their 23-season history. Their most recent playoff appearance was in 2020 when they reached the First Round but were eventually eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lighting. In the same year, they won their first-ever playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round. Columbus Blue Jackets Conference History
The Columbus Blue Jackets have been struggling to secure the Conference Championship since their formation in 2000. Their most notable playoff seasons occured in 2018-19 and in 2019-20, when they qualified to the second round of the Stanley Cup Finals. Unfortunately for them, they haven't been able to replicate that success since and are one of five active NHL teams to have never participated in the Stanley Cup Finals. Columbus Blue Jackets Division History
The Columbus Blue Jackets have not secured any Division Championships till date. Notably, in their first three seasons, they finished 5th in thier division. In the 2003-2004 season, they finished third in the Metropolitan Division with 74 points only behind the Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators, marking their fourth consecutive season without making the playoffs.
The Blue Jackets finished third again in the 2016-2017 season with 108 points, setting the franchise record with a 16-game winning streak.
