The Columbus Blue Jackets are a professional ice hockey team based in Columbus, Ohio, competing in the NHL as a part of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. Founded on June 25, 1997, the team began playing in 2000 as an expansion franchise, calling their home Nationwide Arena, located in downtown Columbus.
