Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers face a new challenge after losing 4-1 to the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. They are now trailing 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.

During Game 2, a fan was spotted wearing a jersey that combined elements from McDavid and Panthers’ star Matthew Tkachuk. The jersey had “McD” written on one side and “CHUK” on the other. B/R Open Ice posted the image on X.

This comes after a fan sported a jersey with “TKA” written on one side and “VID” on the other in Game 1 of the series.

Fans criticized this jersey mashup on social media.

"Conatt McDchuk," one fan tweeted.
"This should be a crime," another fan tweeted.
"If I had to guess … he’s from Edmonton but lives in south Florida. But it’s still so wrong," one fan tweeted.

The reactions varied from fan to fan. Some NHL fans found it more offensive.

"That’s pure cringe & embarrassing & should be an instant game ejection. It’s even worse than those horrendous half & half scarves that tourist football fans buy when they come to the UK & buy tickets to a game," one fan tweeted.
"Why the fuck do people even have jerseys like this," another fan tweeted.
"This is so dumb…," another fan tweeted.

Oilers' Captain Connor McDavid is optimistic ahead of Game 3 in Stanley Cup Finals

Captain Connor McDavid expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back, with the next two games in Edmonton.

“It’s exciting, it’s another opportunity for our group to come together and dig our way out,” McDavid said (via NHL.com). “It’s supposed to be hard; it’s supposed to be difficult, and I’m excited to see what our group is made of."
"I’m excited to see our group come together. I’m excited to see us fight through adversity and I’m looking forward to people doubting us again with our backs against the wall.”

Despite scoring first in Game 2, the Oilers couldn't maintain momentum. They must win four of the next five games to clinch the Stanley Cup. Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals is set for Thursday at 8 p.m. ET and will air on ABC.
