Connor Bedard is a Canadian professional ice hockey center for the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL as of December 2024. He was selected first overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut that same year. In 2024, Bedard won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league's rookie of the year.
Before joining the NHL, Bedard was drafted first overall by the Regina Pats in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, becoming the first player with exceptional status in the league. He won the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the top rookie in his debut season. In his third WHL season, he earned the Bob Clarke Trophy for being the leading scorer and the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy for most valuable player. Bedard also received Canadian Hockey League honors as Top Scorer and Player of the Year. He was also the first recipient of the IIHF Male Player of the Year award.
