Dylan Larkin is an American ice hockey professional player who, as of 2024, serves as the captain for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Red Wings as the 15th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Before coming to the NHL, Larkin played at the University of Michigan in the 2014-2015 season. In January 2015, he was recognized as the Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Month. Later, he was named the Freshman of the Year and earned a place on the All-Freshman Team. Larkin was also recognized as the Second Team All-American. He finished the season with impressive stats and was named as All-Big Ten First Team. In May 2015, Larkin signed a three-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings and made his NHL debut on October 9, 2015. He earned the NHL Rookie of the Month title for November 2015. Larkin scored 23 goals and 22 assists in just 80 games during his rookie season. He also set a record in the 2016 NHL All-Star Game SuperSkills Competition as the fastest skater.
