The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta. They are competing in the NHL as part of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference. The Oilers were founded in 1972 and initially played in the WHA before joining the NHL in 1979 during the WHL and NFL merger. The franchise has established its name in the league, winning five Stanley Cups during the 1980s and early 1990s (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, and 1990). Players like Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier have contributed a lot to the team's success during their time.

The Oilers reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024, marking their eighth appearance in the finals. It was their first Finals appearance since 2006. However, they lost against the Florida Panthers. With Kris Knoblauch as head coach and Stan Bowman as general manager, the Oilers are all set to start their 52nd season in 2024. They play their home games at Rogers Place and they have two minor league affiliates named Bakersfield Condors in AHL and Fort Wayne Komets in ECHL.

Edmonton Oilers Preseason Schedule

The Edmonton Oilers are all set to kickstart their new season. Their 2024-25 preseason schedule features several important matches after a disappointing end to the 2023-24 season, where they lost in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Panthers.

The preseason of the Oilers started on September 22 with a home game against the Winnipeg Jets where they won followed by two losses against the the Calgary Flames on September 23. They will then travel to Winnipeg for a rematch on September 25 and will return home to face the Seattle Kraken on September 28 and the Vancouver Canucks on September 30. The Oilers will wrap up the preseason with road games in Seattle on October 2 and Vancouver on October 4.
