Eric has played with many teams like the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, and the Florida Panthers. Staal has accomplished many accolades in his two-decade-long career, including a Stanley Cup win with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.

His career in the National Hockey League began when he joined the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003. He made his official NHL debut against the Florida Panthers. In his debut season with the Hurricanes, Eric played 81 games, where he recorded 11 goals and 20 assists. After playing with the Hurricanes for over 13 years, Eric was traded to the New York Rangers in 2016. In 2022, he signed a $750,000 deal for one year with the Florida Panthers.
