The New York Rangers faced a major injury blow during Thursday's matchup against the San Jose Sharks, as forward Filip Chytil was injured.
Chytil didn't come for the third period after leaving the ice following a collision with K'Andre Miller. He returned for the second period but was later sidelined from the bench and the ice.
The team announced that the 23-year-old suffered an upper-body injury and won't return to finish the game.
Chytil has garnered nine points through four goals and five assists in 14 seasons with the Blueshirts this season. Meanwhile, the Rangers lead the Sharks 3-1 with the third period in play.
“Day to day,” head coach Peter Laviolette said, as usual. “He’s getting evaluated right now.”
The Blueshirts beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2.
