The Vegas Golden Knights will host the New York Rangers after a 4–0 shutout loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday. While Vegas will be looking to get back in the win column after a loss, the Rangers will look to build on a win over the New Jersey Devils this week.
Currently, Vegas is sitting atop the Pacific Division, six points ahead of the LA Kings. Throughout this season, the Golden Knights have repeatedly proven to be among the best teams in the NHL.
On the flip side, although New York had impressed as one of the top teams in the Metropolitan Division, it has since fallen to sixth in the standings.
Heading into tonight's game, Ivan Barbashev is reportedly expected to be a game-time decision. However, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Danny Webster, Barbashev is likely to play.

Looking at the odds for Golden Knights vs Rangers game as well as upcoming games on Vegas' schedule
Heading into Thursday's game between the Golden Knights and the Rangers, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Vegas is a betting favorite. Between their consistency this season, and the struggles of the Rangers as of late, bettors seem to be backing Vegas.
On DraftKings, Vegas is a -170 favorite while on the flip side, New York is a +142 underdog. Meanwhile, on FanDuel, Vegas is a -170 favorite while New York is a +140 underdog.
Based on these lines, it would take a $170 bet on Vegas as the favorites to win $100 on DraftKings while a $100 bet on the Rangers as the underdogs would win $142.
Following Thursday's game, the Golden Knights will host the Minnesota Wild tomorrow in the second leg of their back-to-back, before hitting the road. Over a three-game road stretch the team will collide with the Predators on Tuesday, the Hurricanes on Friday, and the Blackhawks on Jan. 18.
