Notably, Harry was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the first round (20th overall pick) of the 1988 NHL Supplemental Draft but never made it to the NHL. He, however, reached the heights of the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Baltimore Skipjacks and also had stints in the CJHL and the ECHL.

Interestingly, at the age of 24, Mews won the ECHL Kelly Cup Champions by gaining victory over the Greensboro Monarchs in a best of seven series with a 4-1 victory in 1991. In the coming year, at the age of 25, the Admirals repeated their ECHL Kelly Cup Championship triumph. During this, they thumped the Louisville Icehawks by 4-0 scoreline in another best of seven series, confirming their second consecutive championship.
