Ivan Barbashev is a professional Russian ice hockey forward playing for the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on December 14, 1995, in Moscow, he was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Barbashev started his ice hockey journey in his hometown with HC MVD in the Russian Junior Hockey League where he scored 8 goals and 10 points in 38 games. Following that, he joined the Moncton Wildcats in 2012 in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). He demonstrated his skills during his time in the CHL and advanced to the QMJHL. While in the OMJHL, he performed exceptionally well in his rookie season, scoring 62 points, and earned a spot in the QMJHL All-Rookie Team. Considering his talent, Barbashev became the only “A” prospect in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's watch list.

His professional journey started with the Blues's AHL affiliate team Chicago Wolves where he sharpened his skills before making his NHL debut, contributing 28 points in 65 games. He made his NHL debut with the Blues in 2017 where he quickly impressed everyone with his scoring abilities. He is often referred as the lucky charm behind the Knights and Blues'

Ivan Barbashev contributed to the full 2018-19 NHL season and also in the playoffs. His solid performance in the 2019 playoffs proved himself as an instrumental player for the Blues. With six points in 25 playoff games, Barbashev helped the St. Louis Blues defeat the Boston Bruins, securing the championship for the first time in Blues’ history. Ivan continued to play with the Blues till the 2022-23 season.

On February 26, 2023, he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. Barbashev wasted no time in impressing his new team, earning a spot on the team's top line alongside other key players. His contribution to the 2023 Stanley Cup was crucial ( 7 goals and 11 assists) when the Vegas Golden Knights emerged victorious, defeating the Florida Panthers. His contribution earned him a contract extension with the Vegas Golden Knights, solidifying his place in the team.
