Jacob Markström is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender who plays for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL as of 2025. Born on January 31, 1990, in Gävle, Sweden, he was drafted 31st overall by the Florida Panthers in 2008. Markstrom quickly gained recognition for his butterfly-style goaltending and outstanding performances in Sweden’s top league with Brynas IF.

Markstrom made his NHL debut in 2011 with the Panthers. Over his career, he has played for other teams like the Vancouver Canucks (2014-2020) and Calgary Flames (2020-2024). Making his debut in 2011 with the Florida Panthers, he later emerged as a star with the Vancouver Canucks, earning his first NHL All-Star selection in 2020. After signing a six-year, $36 million contract with the Calgary Flames, he led the league with nine shutouts in 2021–22 and was a Vezina Trophy finalist.
