Jake Oettinger, also known as Otter is an American ice hockey goaltender who is currently playing for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on December 18, 1998, he was selected by the Dallas Stars as the 26th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Growing up, he attended Lakeville North High School and later committed to the USA National Team Development Program (USNTDP) to pursue a career in ice hockey. During his time at the USNTDP, he showcased stellar performances due to which he was ultimately selected by the Stars. Notably, he has played with the Stars eversince and recently made the NHL All-Star Game in 2024 as part od Team Mathews.
After playing two seasons at USNTDP, he committed to Boston University. During his freshman season at Boston, he posted a 2.11 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage, earning awards such as Hockey East Goaltender of the Month and All-Rookie Team honors. In his sophomore year, he continued to excel where he contributed to Boston's Hockey East Tournament victory.
