Jamie Benn is a professional ice hockey player and captain of the Dallas Stars as of April 2025. He was born on July 18, 1989, in Victoria, British Columbia, and won the Art Ross Trophy in the 2014-2015 season as the NHL's top scorer.

Benn was drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Draft by the Stars, despite being overlooked earlier in his career. On February 6, 2023, he played his 1,000th NHL game for the Dallas Stars/Minnesota North Stars franchise, becoming the second player in team history to do so after Mike Modano.

Jamie Benn’s Hometown

Jamie Benn is from Victoria, British Columbia. He grew up playing hockey for the Peninsula Eagles minor hockey association and attended Stelly’s Secondary School. In 2005–06, he played for the Peninsula Panthers, a Junior B team in North Saanich. From 2006 to 2008, he played for the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL before moving to major junior hockey.

After being drafted by the Dallas Stars in 2007, Benn joined the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL. He had an impressive rookie season in 2007–08 with 65 points and followed it with a 46-goal, 82-point season in 2008–09. He helped lead the Rockets to the 2009 WHL championship and was named to the Tournament All-Star team at the Memorial Cup.
