Jared Bednar is a Canadian former ice hockey player turned coach. He is currently serving as a head coach for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League. Born on February 28, 1972, Bednar had a remarkable career in the NHL as a player.

Transitioned to coach, Jared Bednar became an assistant coach for the South Carolina Stingrays in 2000 and played with them for the 1999–2000 season and head coach for the following season. He won the Kelly Cup in his season with them. Then he joined the Abbotsford Heat in the AHL as an assistant coach. He later joined the Columbus Blue Jackets AHL affiliate team Springfield Falcons. They shifted their affiliation to the Lake Erie Monsters with Jared who ultimately led them to win the Calder Cup in 2016.
In 2016, Bednar took the role of head coach for the struggling Colorado Avalanche in the NHL. Initially, they faced some challenges but Bednar took the responsibility of improving the performance. In his third season with the Avalanche, they made back-to-back playoff appearances, reaching the second round of the Stanley Cup.
