John Hynes is the head coach of the Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League (NHL). Appointed to lead the Wild on November 27, 2003, he brought his expertise from coaching the Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils, where he accumulated a combined record of 284-255-63. Hynes made an impressive start with the Wild, posting a 34-24-5 record in the 2023-24 season, as per the official website of the NHL.

Hynes' coaching career began in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he led the team to multiple playoff appearances and earned the AHL Coach of the Year award in 2011. The Minnesota Wild head coach's experience extends to USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, where he contributed to several medal-winning campaigns. Despite their concerns, Hynes ultimately pursued the role, with support from his wife, to advance his professional coaching career.

John Hynes is married to Sarah Mikla Hynes, a former standout volleyball player from Wisconsin, as per the Republican Eagle. Sarah was an all-state volleyball player in high school and later earned a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where she played for four years and served as team captain. After completing college, Sarah became a volleyball coach at Oak Creek High School and later at the University of Dayton. She also worked as the Director of Volleyball Operations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The couple met in Wisconsin while Sarah was coaching and John was an assistant coach with the Badgers.
