John Tavares is a Canadian professional NHL player who plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs as of October 2024. He was drafted first overall by the New York Islanders in 2009, where he played for nine seasons and captained the team for five seasons. Before joining the NHL, Tavares played for the Oshawa Generals and later the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Tavares had an impressive junior career, winning the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Rookie of the Year in 2006 and Player of the Year in 2007. He set records in the OHL with the most career goals, scoring 215, and finishing sixth in points with 433. Tavares entered the NHL in 2009 as one of the top prospects.

One of his recent ventures is Kala Therapy, specifically Red Light Therapy, which he shared in a social media promotion. John Tavares has won several gold medals representing Canada in international ice hockey. He won a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He also earned two gold medals at the World Junior Championships, one in 2008 in the Czech Republic and another in 2009 in Canada. In 2016, he helped Canada win the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto. Additionally, he won a gold medal at the Spengler Cup in 2012, held in Davos.
