Jon Cooper is a Canadian-American professional ice hockey coach and the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL. Born on August 23, 1967, he has been the head coach of the team since 2013. Cooper has led the team to extraordinary success, including back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2020 and 2021. Under his leadership, the Lightning also reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2015 and 2022, earning him recognition as one of the most successful coaches in NHL history. Cooper holds multiple records, including being the fastest coach to reach 400 career NHL wins and having the longest tenure among active NHL coaches. Beyond the NHL, he has represented Canada internationally, coaching Team Canada to a silver medal at the 2017 IIHF World Championship.

Jon Cooper’s wife is Jessie Cooper, formerly Jessica Ann Novak. She is originally from Cadillac, Michigan as per fabwags.com. Jessie’s father Steven Novak worked in construction for over 40 years and passed away on March 26, 2015, at the age of 62. He built the Muskegon Farmers Market. Jessie’s parents also owned a dock on Lake Mitchell, where Jon Cooper proposed to her.
