Jonathan Drouin, born on March 28, 1995, is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who as of 2024, serves as a left winger for the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL. Drouin first gained a reputation during the 2012–13 season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). That year, he was named CHL Player of the Year and helped his team win both the President's Cup and Memorial Cup.

Drouin was selected third overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and signed his first professional contract shortly after. After debuting with Tampa Bay, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2017, where he spent six seasons. In July 2023, Drouin joined the Avalanche as a free agent.

Jonathan Drouin parents

According to the Montreal Gazette, Jonathan Drouin was born to Serge and Brigitte Drouin. His parents have dedicated their lives to supporting underprivileged children. Both work at the Huberdeau Youth Centre near Mont-Tremblant, where Serge serves as a security guard and Brigitte provides care through cooking, cleaning, and other nurturing tasks. Growing up, Drouin frequently visited the center and interacted with the children his parents helped, many of whom were his age. In an interview with the Montreal Gazette, his agent Allan Walsh reflected on this influence, stating,

“He would go with his parents to work at different times and meet the kids. Many times, they were about his age. I think Jonathan is very sensitive to people who are less fortunate than him growing up in less fortunate circumstances. This work of his is truly coming from his heart and not just something he’s doing for the sake of doing it.”
