Josh Jacobs is an American professional ice hockey defenseman playing with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League (AHL). Born on February 15, 1996, Jacobs was selected by the New Jersey Devils as the 41 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

During his time with the Indiana Ice, he also played collegiate hockey at Michigan State University. Jacobs contributed 23 points in 56 games to claim the Clark Cup. During his time with Indiana, he also played collegiate hockey at Michigan State University in the Big Ten Conference and played there for a very short period. In the second season of his collegiate hockey, Josh contributed 9 assists in 35 games and earned a place on the Conference All-Rookie Team.

Josh Jacobs was born on February 15, 1996, in Shelby Township Michigan. He started his hockey journey in his hometown of Shelby Township, Michigan. Like many other young aspiring hockey players, he also spent countless hours on local rinks, nurturing his skills and passion for hockey. Jacobs commenced his NHL journey in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League with the Detroit Honeybaked U16 program where he showcased his talent. He then advanced to the Ontario Hockey League in 2012 where he was selected as the 72nd overall pick by the Sarina Sting. However, Jacobs decided to play in the United States Hockey League instead. He joined the Indiana Ice where he continued to improve his skills and game.

Josh Jacobs holds American nationality. He has not yet appeared on the international stage. His NHL journey with the New Jersey Devils, making his debut on March 21, 2019, after being recalled from the Binghamton Devils during an injury crisis. After six seasons with the New Jersey Devils, Jacobs became a free agent and joined the Carolina Hurricanes in 2021. The Hurricanes sent him to their AHL affiliate team the Chicago Wolves for training in the 2021-2022 season. He recorded an impressive score there with 4 goals and 15 points in 51 regular-season games. He made his impact in the playoffs also with two points in 18 games, contributing to the Calder Cup victory.

Josh Jacobs continued his NHL journey with the Colorado Avalanche by signing a one-year two-way contract with them for the 2022-2023 season. He was assigned to their AHL affiliate team Colorado Eagles. There he contributed 4 goals and 10 points in 43 regular games. Moreover, he scored one goal and four points in seven games and helped the Eagles reach the Divisional semi-finals. He slowly progressed and signed a one-year two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues in July 2023 to present.

As of July 1, 2024, he signed a one-year AHL contract with the Laval Rocket, the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate, seeking to continue his career in the AHL after dealing with injuries and to regain his form.
