In a matchup between the New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres, Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller made an early exit due to an upper-body injury. Miller left in the second period, a few minutes after taking a hard hit from Sabres forward Jordan Greenway.
The Rangers later announced that Miller won't return to the game after sustaining the injury.
Despite losing Miller, the Rangers pulled out a 3-1 victory over the Sabres on the road. Adam Fox, Reilly Smith and Mika Zibanejad scored for the Rangers, while Igor Shesterkin was solid in the net with 28 saves.
Tage Thompson and Owen Power netted for the Sabres, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 25 stops in the losing effort. The Rangers improved to 15-12-1 on the season with the win.
The severity of K'Andre Miller's injury isn't yet known. The Rangers are back in action on Friday night at home against the Los Angeles Kings.
