Kim Saarinen, born on July 22, 2006, is Finnish 17-year-old goalie, who stands at an impressive height of 6 '4” (194 cm). Presently, he is contracted to the HPK in the Liiga and also stands as one of the best goaltending prospects available in the upcoming NHL Draft 2024. He catches left and has been part of the HPK system throughout the entirety of his life. He has also represented Finland on the international stage and was part of the U17 team that won the Bronze Medal in 2022/23.

Moreover, he backed by rankings from top scouting agencies like Consolidated Ranking, Eliteprospects.com, TSN/Bob McKenzie, THN/Kennedy, Daily Faceoff, HPR/Mallov, Recruit Scouting, and NHL Central Scouting. In addition to that he has been part of the “2024 NHL Draft: Player to Watch List”, has won the Jorma Valtonen Award for being the best goalie in U20 Sm-Sarja and was also named to the U20 Sm-Sarja First All-Star Team in 2023/24.

Kim Saarinen’s Brother

Kaj Saarinen is the brother of Kim Saarinen. Notably, he is older than Kim and plays as a goalie for HPK in the Liiga as of 2024-25. However, he has been loaned to RoKi of the Mestis for the rest of the season.

In the 2023-24 season, Kaj played with the HPK U20 team, where he played 21 games and achieved a GAA of 2.68 with a SV% of .910. He also played two games for HPK in Liiga, where he recorded a GAA of 3.67 and a SV% of .885. Later on, that same season, he also played three games on loan with Mestis.

Kim Saarinen initially played with HPK U16 team and later progressed through the U18 and U20 levels before making his main roster debut.
