Kris Knoblauch is a professional ice hockey head coach and former player who currently serves as the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, he enjoyed a 11-year playing career with the Red Deer Labels, Kootenay Ice, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Asheville Smoke, Austin Ice Bats, and Bisons de Neuilly-sur-Marne. He also had a five stint with the Alberta Golden Bears (presently the Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas), where he won a National Championship in 1999-00.
Kris Knoblauch began his coaching career in the 2006–07 season as an assistant coach for the Prince Albert Raiders in the Western Hockey League (WHL), before being named as the assistant head coach of the Kootenay Ice in the same league. His tenure there turned out to be a successful one as he led the team to an Ed Chynoweth Cup before moving on to the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Knoblauch's time with the Otters in the OHL was significant as he led the team to the OHL Championship and four consecutive 50-win seasons, a first in Canadian Hockey League history. He also received the Matt Leyden Trophy as OHL Coach of the Year in 2015–16. Around the same time, he took charge of Canada-Red at the 2015 World U17 Hockey Challenge as the head coach of the team and later served as an assistant coach for Canada at the 2017 IIHF World U20 Championship where the team won a silver medal.
His NHL coaching career saw him be a part of the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers before landing his current job with the Oilers. He was hired at the expense of former head coach Jay Woodcroft who had a relatively poor start to the season.
Kris Knoblauch's Kids
Kris Knoblauch has two teenage kids named Marek and Emry. His first child, Marek, was born in 2007 in Cranbrook while his second child was born in 2010. Notably, Marek in his high school hockey while Emry is actively engaged in her school and various activities. Moreover, they were present at their father's debut game as the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers. However, their trip was short as Marker had high school hockey tryouts, reflecting his dedication to the sport. They had travelled from Hartford to be a part of the game. The kids later made an appearance at the Oilers Entertainment Group family skate and holiday party in November 2023, where they got a chance to seee their father's office and engage with him at the post-game press conference.

Autumn Knoblauch is the wife Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch. Moreover, she balances her professional life as a speech pathologist and also takes care of both her children. The couple met while Knoblauch was playing for Kootenay Ice in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and Autumn was a student in University of Alberta. They later got married in 2004 and have been married for 20 years as of now (2024).
