Kristopher Letang is a Canadian defenseman and alternate captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was drafted 62nd overall in 2005 and joined the NHL in the 2006–07 season. After some time in juniors, Letang became a regular with the Penguins in 2007–08. In 2009, he played a key role in helping the team win the Stanley Cup, their first in 17 years, by defeating the Detroit Red Wings.

Letang won two more Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh in 2016 and 2017, though he missed the 2017 playoffs due to neck surgery. Throughout his career, he battled serious injuries and strokes, including one in 2022, but made quick recoveries. In 2022, he signed a six-year contract to stay with the Penguins. Letang holds franchise records for the most goals and points by a defenseman and remains a key player for the team. Kris Letang has received numerous awards throughout his hockey career. He participated in the YoungStars Game in 2008 and 2009. Letang was selected for the NHL All-Star Game multiple times from 2011 to 2020 and was named to the NHL Second Team All-Star in 2013 and 2016. He won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2023. Letang received the Michel Brière Rookie of the Year Award in 2008 for the Penguins and was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016.
