LeBron James has become the NBA's regular-season all-time scoring leader, beating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record, which stood for nearly four decades.

James is a four-time NBA champion, having won it twice with the Miami Heat, once with the Cleveland Cavaliers and his most recent 2020 Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. James may become the first player in the world to be an NBA and NHL champion. Here's how:

In March 2021, James joined Fenway Sports Group as a partner, giving him an ownership stake in its subsidiaries that include the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club. In November the same year, Fenway Sports Group signed a deal with owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle, giving the multinational conglomerate a controlling interest in the Penguins. The deal made LeBron James a part-owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are five-time Stanley Cup champions. Their last championship was in 2016-17. They're currently in fifth position in the NHL Metropolitan Division and are on course to make a playoff run. Their star player and captain Sidney Crosby is leading the team in points (60), goals (24) and assists (36). Evgeni Malkin is just behind the 35 year-old veteran with 50 points.

It will be a very challenging task for the Penguins, but if they win the 2022-23 Stanley Cup Championship, it will not only make it their sixth-time winning the Cup but also their part-owner LeBron James an NHL champion.

'The Kid from Akron' currently has 38,390 points in the regular season across his NBA career, which spans 20 years. He was just 36 points shy of The Captain's record, which stood at 38,387. The Lakers lost against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but James created history by becoming the all-time top scorer in NBA history.

In the 2012 NBA Finals Game 4, James checked out of the game in the fourth quarter due to an injury which was later reported to be leg cramps.

Even though the Miami Heat won the game and would go on to win the NBA Championship against the Oklahoma City Thunder, many fans and NHL players took to twitter and heavily criticized James for leaving the game over what they called a 'small injury'.

"LeBron James is embarrassing himself and the NBA or actually all athletes," tweeted Ryan Potulny, a forward in the Washington Capitals system.
"I wonder what kind of face LeBron would make if he took a slapper off the laces?," wrote Winnipeg Jet's Blake Wheeler.
"We get it LeBron, it doesn't hurt when you're running around, but it looks unbearable when the cameras are close up during the timeouts," wrote Nick Bonino of the Anaheim Ducks.

Here are some other comments:

"What a gutsy performance by lebron #not" wrote Dallas Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski. tweeted Alex Goligoski of the Dallar Stars.
"Oh my god guys, LeBron has a cramp, everyone get on their feet, standing O for somehow staying in the game," taunted Scott Valentine of the Milwaukee Admirals, before sarcastically adding, "If LeBron somehow manages to pull off winning a ring after fighting through a thigh cramp.. it will be a story I tell my children's children."
"So much flopping going on.. Wondering what these bball players would do if they got a skate in the face haha," wrote Taylor Hall, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.
