The Detroit Red Wings are one of the Original Six teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) alongside the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Black Hawks and the New York Rangers. Presently, they stand as the third most successful team in the NHL with 11 Stanley Cup victories, 19 Division Championships, six Presidents' Trophy and six Conference Championships. Remarkably, the Red Wings have also had some of the most notable players play for them which later became Hall of Famers. This includes players like Marcel Dionne, Gordie Howe, Sergei Fedorov, Nicklas Lidstrom, Ted Lindsay and Steve Yzerman.
Throughout their history, they have also been known as the Detroit Cougars and the Detroit Falcons before settling on their current name. On the other hand, they their off-field operations are taken care by Ilitch Holdings with former player Steve Yzerman serving as general manager of the team.
