The Stanley Cup is the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to a professional sports franchise in the entirety of North America with it being in existence since 1893. Moreover, is it recognized as one of the “most important championships available to the sport” according to the International Ice Hockey Federation. Moreover, it is named after Lord Stanley of Preston, the Governor General of Canada, who donated it as an award to Canada's top amateur ice hockey club. However, it became the de facto championship trophy of the NHL in 1926 and became the de jure NHL championship prize in 1947. The Stanley Cup is also known as "The Holy Grail, Lord Stanley's Mug and Lord Stanley's Cup. Additionally, the most recent winners of the Cup were the Vegas Golden Knights who defeated the Florida Panthers in a five game series to claim their first Stanley Cup Championship.

NHL Teams With Most Stanley Cup Wins-

Over the years, the Stanley Cup has been the most crucial annual award given to the playoff champions in the National Hockey League (NHL). Since its introduction to the league, the Stanley Cup has been won 107 times by 26 teams out of which 21 are still active in the league. Notably, the Montreal Canadiens hold the record of having won it the most times with 24 victories till date. They are followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings with 13 and 11 Cup wins respectively. However, there are several NHL teams that are yet to win a Stanley Cup despite reaching the finals, this includes teams like Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators , San Jose Sharks, and the Nashville Predators. Shockingly, teams like Seattle Kraken, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, and Columbus Blue Jackets have never made the finals. Moreover, teams like St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals and the Vegas Golden Knights have won the coveted trophy only once each till date. Interestingly, the Colorado Avalanche are the only team to win at least three Cups with no losses in the finals.

The following table showcases teams with most Stanley Cup wins till date:
