Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings are a professional ice hockey team based in Los Angeles, competing in the NHL's Western Conference. Founded in 1967, the Kings have won the Stanley Cup two times, winning in 2012 and 2014, and have also claimed three conference championships.

The franchise saw a significant transformation in 1988 when they acquired hockey legend Wayne Gretzky from the Edmonton Oilers. This move brought renewed attention to the team, leading them to their first division title in 1991 and a conference championship in 1993. However, after a downturn in performance, they entered a playoff drought for several seasons before revamping their roster in the late 1990s.

In the 2010s, the Kings experienced a resurgence, highlighted by their stunning playoff run in 2012 as the lowest-seeded team to win the Stanley Cup. They followed this with another championship in 2014, showcasing their resilience and ability to overcome playoff challenges.
