Looking at the Toronto Maple Leafs season so far and upcoming schedule
After being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for the seventh time in eight years, the Maple Leafs entered this season with high hopes. Despite that, the team has struggled to find consistency this season.
After losing their opening game of the year to the Habs, the Maple Leafs rattled off three straight wins over the Devils, Penguins and Kings before falling to the New York Rangers on Oct. 19.
While they were able to bounce back with a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 21, the team then went on a three-game skid last week. After losses to the Blue Jackets, Blues, and Bruins, the Maple Leafs managed to bounce back with a 6-4 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday to bring their season record to 5-4-1.
Following tonight's home showdown with the Kraken, the team will be back in action on Saturday when they face the Blues in the first leg of a back-to-back on the road.
The team is ranked third in the Atlantic Division behind the 7-3-1 Florida Panthers and the 7-3-0 Lightning, while sitting just one point ahead of the 5-4-0 Senators.
With a win tonight, they could widen their lead over the Sens, and close the gap on the Lightning.
