Martin Necas is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays as a center for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League (NHL). His talent quickly caught the attention of international scouts, leading to his debut with the Czech U-17 team at the 2015 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, where he served as captain and showcased his scoring ability with five points in five games. Necas continued to excel internationally, captaining the Czech team at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and contributing to their gold medal victory with six points in four games. He made his IIHF tournament debut at the 2017 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, followed by appearances at the 2017 IIHF World U18 Championships, where he served as captain once again. Necas' leadership and offensive prowess were on full display at the 2018 World Juniors, where he led the tournament in assists and tied for the scoring lead, guiding the Czech team to a fourth-place finish. He later represented the Czech Republic at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, contributing five points in seven games. Necas continued to make waves on the international stage, captaining the Czech team at the 2019 World Juniors.
