Martin Necas is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays as a center for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League (NHL). Moreover, Martin Necas emerged as a key player for the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2019-20 season, where he scored 16 goals and recorded 20 assists across 64 in his rookie season. Moreover, Nové Město na Moravě is known as a premier winter sports destination and became an ideal place for Necas to explore those different athletic endeavors. Notably though, he left his home at the age of 15 to hone his skills with HC Zdar nad Sazavou and HC Kometa Brno.

His talent quickly caught the attention of international scouts, leading to his debut with the Czech U-17 team at the 2015 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, where he served as captain and showcased his scoring ability with five points in five games. Necas continued to excel internationally, captaining the Czech team at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and contributing to their gold medal victory with six points in four games. He made his IIHF tournament debut at the 2017 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, followed by appearances at the 2017 IIHF World U18 Championships, where he served as captain once again. Necas' leadership and offensive prowess were on full display at the 2018 World Juniors, where he led the tournament in assists and tied for the scoring lead, guiding the Czech team to a fourth-place finish. He later represented the Czech Republic at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, contributing five points in seven games. Necas continued to make waves on the international stage, captaining the Czech team at the 2019 World Juniors.
