Mattias Hans Ekholm is an ice hockey defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers. He has tasted success in various international and domestic competitions, including winning a gold medal at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup and being named the top rookie in the Swedish Elite League in 2010-11.

Ekholm made his NHL debut with the Nashville Predators in 2011 but found his breakthrough moment in the 2015-16 season as he recorded 35 points over 82 regular season games. He followed this up with strong performances over the following seasons before he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2023.
