Miro Heiskanen is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenseman serving as an alternate captain for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on July 18, 1999, in Espoo, Finland, and began his hockey career in Finland, playing in youth programs such as the Espoo Blues of Mestis and HIFK of the SM-Liiga. Subsequently, he joined another youth program, HIFK, in the SM-Liiga, during the 2015-16 season, where he showcased his talent. This led to a three-year contract extension with HIFK on May 30, 2016, and the following year, Heiskanen made his professional hockey debut with HIFK, playing in the 2016-17 SM-Liiga season.
