The New Jersey Devils have a storied NHL playoff history spanning over several decades. Since their inception in 1972 as the Kansas City Scouts before relocating to Denver and becoming the Colorado Rockies in 1976. However, their tenure as the Rockies was short lived due to lack of stability. This led to the sale of the team to New Jersey trucking tycoon Arthur Imperatore prior to the 1978-79 season. However, due to no nearby facility, the team stayed in Denver. Moving forward, Imperatore sold the team to the then owner of the Houston Astros and relocated to New Jersey.

Since their relocation to New Jersey, they have added three Stanley Cup Championships, five Conference Championships and nine Division Championships to their collection. Notably, Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, has been serving as their home arena since 2007. Remarkably, the Devils are the only major league team in any sport to represent the state of New Jersey.

New Jersey Devils NHL Playoff History and Appearances

The New Jersey Devils have made 23 playoff appearances till date, while notable achievements include winning the Stanley Cup in 1995, 2000, and 2003. New Jersey Devils Conference History

The New Jersey Devils have been part of the Eastern Conference throughout their NHL history. Since the conference's establishment, they have been a prominent member, competing against other Eastern Conference teams in various divisions such as the Atlantic Division and the Metropolitan Division. Their consistent presence in the Eastern Conference has contributed to their legacy in the NHL.

From their early years in the 1980s, marked by struggles to qualify for the playoffs, to their breakthrough in the late 1980s, capturing their first division title and making deep playoff runs. The pinnacle arrived in the mid-1990s when they clinched their first Stanley Cup in the 1994–95 season, followed by another championship in the 1999–2000 season. They maintained their competitiveness throughout the early 2000s, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals twice more in 2000–01 and 2002–03, while emerging victorious in the latter. However, in the following years, they faced challenges, including missing the playoffs in consecutive seasons from 2011–12 to 2014–15 and again from 2016–17 to 2019–20. Despite recent setbacks, the team showed resilience by qualifying for the playoffs in the 2022–23 season.
