#3: behind the scenes of Matthew Tkachuk's broken sternum

While much of the "Faceoff" series focuses on the 2023-24 season, Matthew Tkachuk opened up about the hit he sustained early on in Game 3 of the 2023 Stanley Cup finals against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Tkachuk explained to the "Faceoff" camera crews that the hit resulted in a broken sternum. Tkachuk's brother, Brady Tkachuk, helped Matthew get in and out of bed because of the severity of the injury.

"My brother was staying with me and had to get me out of bed, get me dressed, get me to the rink and I had guys tie my skates and put on my jersey, just helping me with everything. So I'm happy that I was able to attempt and play that game but I knew I wasn't myself," Matthew Tkachuk said.

While the Tkachuk and the Panthers' 2023 Stanley Cup run didn't pan out, the team was able to bounce back and win the 2024 Stanley Cup.
