The Boston Bruins fell 2-1 to the New York Rangers on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick stole the show, making 32 saves to stop the Bruins.

Bruins forward David Pastrnak voiced his frustration with the result. Pastrnak, signed to an eight-year, $90 million contract with Boston, felt that the team generated chances but failed to capitalize.

"Yeah, we had a lot of chances, but again we didn't capitalize,"Pastrnak said. "So it's tough, because their goalie played amazing. I thought we had, especially in the second period, many times opportunity to tie the game."

The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead, thanks to goals by Brett Berard and Mika Zibanejad. Boston got one back in the second when Elias Lindholm lit the lamp.

Pastrnak lamented the inability to find an equalizer against Quick and the Rangers.

"I mean, it's hard, you know, obviously sometimes you want to look at positive," he said. "But, you know, this is hockey. We are one and two on this road trip. So tough. It's tough to look at some positive right now."

While the loss drops the Bruins to 20-16-4, Pastrnak knows that they need to quickly refocus, with a big divisional matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs up next on Saturday.

"Obviously, you know, we're going to regroup. We have a big divisional game. So flip the switch and focus on Toronto," Pastrnak said.

Jeremy Swayman had 25 saves in the loss for the Bruins.

Bruins HC Joe Sacco on Jonathan Quick's performance in 2-1 loss to Rangers

Bruins coach Joe Sacco had praise for Rangers goalie Jonathan Quick after the loss. Quick secured his 399th NHL victory, marking his first win since Nov. 30.

"He made some good saves. He did. He made some big saves there. Played well. We have to bury our chances," Sacco said of Jonathan Quick's performance.

The Bruins outshot the Rangers 33-27 but only got one puck past Jonathan Quick after making three back-to-back saves in four seconds on Mark Kastelic, Justin Brazeau and John Beecher.

"It’s frustrating, obviously we’re not scoring right now at the level we want to be. It’s not from lack of some opportunities; we’re just not finishing right now. Another good defensive game for the most part. We have to stick with it," Sacco remarked following the loss.

While Sacco was frustrated with the result, he said that the team needs to stick with its game plan.
