Los Angeles Kings forward Adrian Kempe recently found himself at the center of a culinary controversy. The Swedish native publicly endorsed the idea of bananas as a taco topping, much to the amusement and bewilderment of LA Kings fans.
As social media exploded with reactions, passionate supporters of the team took to Twitter to express their thoughts on this peculiar food combination. Let's take a closer look at the range of responses that emerged from the Kings' dedicated fanbase.
As news of Kempe's endorsement spread across social media, LA Kings fans wasted no time in sharing their contrasting views on the matter. While some embraced the idea with a sense of adventure and curiosity, others were less enthused, and a few were even outright appalled.
One fan humorously drew a connection between the ongoing debate over pineapple on pizza and Adrian Kempe's banana taco suggestion. They playfully remarked:
"First pineapple on pizza, now banana on tacos? I introduce apples on hamburgers!"
This perspective highlights the evolving nature of food preferences and the willingness of people to embrace unconventional combinations.
However, not all fans were open to the idea. One particularly passionate fan reacted with a strong opinion, exclaiming,
"He needs to be arrested!"
Another fan expressed their disappointment, stating,
"He's invited to the carne asada just because he's a great hockey player, 'cause this ain't it."
This sentiment reflects the fan's respect for Kempe's skills on the ice but their reluctance to accept his culinary preferences.
Adrian Kempe supports the use of bananas as a topping for tacos
The LA Kings posted a video of Adrian Kempe endorsing the idea of bananas as a taco topping. And not like an ice cream or dessert taco. And actual meat/cheese/peppers/lettuce and more in a shell taco.
The native of Kramfors, Sweden wasn't shy about it either. The team's social media post had some good-natured fun with the seemingly odd food choice, but Kempe wasn't deterred.
Adrian Kempe said in a short video clip shared by the team:
"I mean, yeah, I do like it, I feel like it's something that people should try. You don't have to love it but I think it's a good mixture of sweet and a little spicy, so I kind of like that."
Kempe did, however, not claim to be the originator of the strange food combination.
Adrian Kempe said:
"I can't remember the first time I did it. I think my brother got me into it, if I'm not wrong, He's the guy who likes to try new things so he got me on to it and I've never stopped since."
