Anton Forsberg tore up his MCLs during the Senators v Oilers game

Fans of the Ottawa Senators were stunned in silence after seeing their goalkeeper, Anton Forsberg, being carried off the ice on a stretcher. He sustained an injury to his right knee during a game on Saturday against the Oilers.

The Oilers were already up 5-3 in the third period when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the winning sixth goal. However, defenseman Travis Hamonic tried to separate Oilers forward Zach Hayman from the post and push him onto the Senators' goalie's right leg. Forsberg twisted his right leg and tore up his MCLs on both knees.

Forsberg was left in a significant amount of pain on the ice, and a medical crew had to run over to check on him. The injury seemed serious, as Forsberg had to be taken off the ice with the assistance of a stretcher.

The Ottawa Senators are already having one of their worst seasons, and the news of their best goaltender's injury adds to their troubles. Anton Forsberg is unlikely to play again until the end of the current season. The Senators' general manager confirmed the news.

"#Sens GM Pierre Dorion says Forsberg is out indefinitely. MCL tears in both knees. Likely out for the season."- @SunGarrioch

It was a poor game for the Senators this season as they did not end up losing their 6-3 game against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, but also lost two important key squad members.

During that match, the Senators first lost their defenseman Sanderson, who also attained an injury while taking a hit during the early play. They later lost their best goaltender, Anton Forsberg.
