Bo Horvat is a Canadian ice hockey professional who currently plays for the National Hockey League's New York Islanders.

Bo Horvat is the second cousin of Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny. Konecny, 25, and Horvat, 27, both grew up in the London area of Ontario, where the cousins used to spend summers training together. However, they didn't spend much time together as children. They began to workout together as they grew older and became more serious about hockey. They first met in junior hockey, when Konecny was with the Ottawa 67′s and Horvat was with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. Since there is a two-year age gap, Horvat and Travis Konecny did not play minor hockey together, but they faced each other frequently throughout their junior and professional careers.

Both Bo Horvat and Travis Konecny have established themselves as successful players in the NHL. Both have also represented Canada in international hockey tournaments and have received numerous awards and honors for their attempts.

In 2019, Bo Horvat was named the Canucks team captain, while Konecny has been one of the Flyers' leading scorers in recent years. Their personal achievements and contributions to their respective teams have elevated them to one of the league's top-two most promising young players.

Bo Horvat expended the first eight and a half seasons of his career with the Vancouver Canucks before being traded to the Islanders on Jan. 30th, merely days before the NHL All-Star break.

Bo Horvat and Travis Konecny' NHL careers

Bowie Horvat was born in London, Ontario on April 5th, 1995. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks, where he served as captain from 2019 until his trade to the Islanders in 2023. He won the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as playoff MVP in 2013, as well as two J. Ross Robertson Cups with the London Knights during his junior career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He represented Canada at the 2012 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (under-18), the 2014 IIHF U20 Championships, and the 2018 IIHF World Championship.

Konecny grew up dominating minor hockey in the Toronto area, including a minor-midget season (2012-13) in which he scored 114 points (53 goals, 61 assists) in 54 games. Ottawa then selected him first overall in the 2013 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft.

He was 19 years old when he made the Flyers' opening-night roster in 2016-17. Konecny had two assists in his NHL debut against the Los Angeles Kings on October 14th, 2016. He recorded at least one point in four of his first five games and scored his first NHL goal against the Buffalo Sabres on October 25th, 2016.

Konecny has 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 70 games this season, the most by a Flyers rookie forward since Matt Read had 47 in 2011-12. After scoring 17 goals in his first 46 games, he was selected to play in the 2020 NHL All-Star Game.
