B/R Hockey released its list of top 10 NHL goalies since 2000 on Wednesday, sparking debate among fans. Martin Brodeur, who holds records for wins (691) and shutouts (125), was listed as number 1. He was followed by Marc-Andre Fleury (three Stanley Cups) and Roberto Luongo (ranked 4th in all-time wins).

Andrei Vasilevskiy is ranked 4th, Sergei Bobrovsky 5th, Henrik Lundqvist 6th and Connor Hellebuyck at 7th. Jonathan Quick, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, is ranked 8th. Pekka Rinne, known for his Vezina Trophy, was in 10th spot, and Carey Price, celebrated for his 2015 Vezina and Hart trophies, was in 9th.

Fans on X have reacted strongly to the rankings.

“Absolutely the worst thing I’ve seen in a while,” one fan tweeted.
"Are we kidding????…. Like seriously you can’t be serious," another fan tweeted.
"Bob and Fleury over Hank is just disrespectful" a fan tweeted.

Here are some more reactions from NHL fans on X:

"Fleury should not be on this list. I get longevity has it's merits, but he's always been good, sometimes very good, very rarely great," a fan tweeted.
"Pens fan, & I stopped reading at Henrik ranked 6th & MAF ranked 2nd. Loved MAF, but doesn’t anyone remember his playoff performances outside of 09? There’s a reason the beachball meme exists. Put Henrik in goal on those Pens teams and they probably win at least 2 more cups," a fan tweeted.
"Bob, Vasy and Fleury are NOT better than Hank or Price lmao" a fan tweeted.

NHL's ranking of Top 10 goalies for the upcoming season

The NHL 2023 season saw Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky in action, especially during the Stanley Cup finals against the Edmonton Oilers, where he secured a shutout in Game 1 and gave only one goal in Game 7. This season, the goalies will be playing the prime role for each team. Let's take a look at the NHL's top 10 goalie rankings.

  1. Igor Shesterkin (New York Rangers) - Leads in wins over the past three seasons, impressive postseason stats and Vezina winner in 2022.
  2. Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets) - Last season’s Vezina winner, strong goals against average and second in wins and save percentage.
  3. Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay Lightning) - Consistent performer with 30 wins last season, two Stanley Cups and top Vezina contender.
  4. Jeremy Swayman (Boston Bruins) - Excellent stats with a 2.53 GAA and .916 SV% despite sharing time with Ullmark.
  5. Ilya Sorokin (New York Islanders) - Led in shutouts and key to the Islanders’ playoff berth despite a higher GAA.

Moreover, Vancouver Canucks Thatcher Demko is ranked 6th, followed by Bobrovsky at 7, Dallas stars' Jake Oettinger at 8, Nashville Predators' Juuse Saros at 9, and Linus Ullmark who signed with Ottawa Senators at 10th spot.
