Auston Matthews will represent the USA team in 2025 4 Nations Face-Off
Auston Matthews has been selected for Team USA’s roster in the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. The event runs from February 12-20 in Montreal and Boston and features the best players from the U.S., Canada, Sweden and Finland.
Matthews, a Toronto Maple Leafs star, will play alongside top players like Jack Hughes, Matthew Tkachuk and Adam Fox. The tournament is the first best-on-best hockey competition since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Matthews said he is excited about the strong rosters and the chance to compete with and against top talent.
"It will be fun. A lot of fire power on all four teams,” Matthews said, per NHL.com, “I think it's going to be really exciting for the players of course but I think the fans too. It's been a while since we've seen best on best like this and it's a pretty good precursor to the Olympics the following year. So I think everybody is excited, it will be fun."
Team USA’s lineup includes 13 forwards, seven defensemen and three goalies. Auston Matthews, back from injury, helped the Maple Leafs beat the Predators 3–2 with two third-period goals. He now has eight goals and 16 points in 16 games, including five points in three games since his return.
