Seth Jones is facing criticism from Chicago Blackhawks fans after a poor performance in a 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames. The Blackhawks have struggled lately, losing three of their last four games.
In this game, Jones had a -4 rating, the worst on the team. His giveaway in the neutral zone led to a shorthanded goal by Yegor Sharangovich. Fans were frustrated and showed their displeasure at United Center.
On X/Twitter, many fans criticized Seth Jones. Some questioned why the Blackhawks signed him, while others wanted him benched:
"Seth Jones was a bad pick up from the beginning! He's terrible..sit him down. Another national TV game, another blowout. Wtf is the owner doing, is he even watching this crap?," one fan said.
"Get f..ing Jones out of our team. I don't recall another player who was hated so much by almost all fans. Never seen anyone wearing jersey with his number during the games. Bench him until he freezes on the bench," another fan commented.
"Get rid of Jones. He is useless," one fan commented.
Jones is the highest-paid defenseman on the team, with an eight-year, $76 million contract signed in 2022. This has added more pressure on him to perform. Fans are frustrated with his underperformance.
Here are some more reactions from fans on X:
"I can't tell who I'm supposed to hate more; Seth Jones or Martin Pospisil!," one fan commented.
"Just fu**ing cut Seth Jones already," another fan said.
"What a difference since Richardson's give. NOT. coaching clearly is not the problem. Jones needs to go away," a fan tweeted.
The Blackhawks' struggles will likely continue to bring attention to Jones’s play and the growing criticism he faces.
