The Chicago Blackhawks fell 4-1 to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night, dropping their record to a disappointing 5-8-1 on the season. The lone goal for Chicago came from Nick Foligno in the second period.

Detroit responded with four goals from Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Larkin, Andrew Copp and Joe Veleno. Goaltender Cam Talbot stopped 28 shots for the Red Wings, while Petr Mrazek saved 21 for Chicago.

Blackhawks fans took to social media to vent their frustrations over the loss, with one tweeting:

"Bedard can’t play defense and now he’s not generating any offense. Love it" in reference to young forward Connor Bedard's ineffective play this game.

Alex DeBrincat opened the scoring for Detroit with just 2 seconds left in the first period, putting in the rebound of Dylan Larkin's shot.

The Chicago Blackhawks responded in the second period with Nick Foligno's goal to tie the game 1-1. However, Larkin put Detroit back in front 2-1 midway through the second, scoring on a backhand-forehand move.

Joe Veleno extended the Red Wings’ advantage in the third period by redirecting Moritz Seider’s shot to bring the score to 3-1. In the closing minutes of the game, Andrew Copp secured the victory for Detroit with an empty net goal.
