Team USA won its second IIHF World Junior Championships in a row. The roster consisted of 26 players from 15 different teams assigned to the NHL, but none from the Boston Bruins. Their Draft recruitments have brought mixed results in the recent past, especially under Don Sweeney, their general manager's leadership.

The 'Spittin' Chiclets' panel discussed the Bruins organization's representation at the World Juniors. Analyst Paul Bissonnette blasted the team's management and Sweeney for not having a single person at the tournament.

"Bring out that draft, the three first-rounders. That's what everybody always goes back to, is how dog s**t their drafting and developing has been since this regime has taken over. That's tough. Not one guy?" Biz said.

Under Don Sweeney's tenure, the Bruins have made the playoffs each year since their Stanley Cup appearance in the 2018-19 season. This has made it tougher for them to get a higher pick in the NHL drafts.

Since 2019, they have had just three first-round picks. In fact, in the last 10 years, only three first-rounders: Charlie McAvoy (2016), Trent Frederic (2016) and John Beecher (2019) are still on the Bruins roster.

Analyst Mike Grinnel suggests alternative for Don Sweeney's position

The Boston Bruins lost their fifth consecutive game when they went down to the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 at home. The crowd was angry as they booed the team off and also called for Sweeney's firing.

The general manager has been ineffective with his moves this season with the team faltering even after parting ways with Jim Montgomery and bringing in Joe Sacco.

This has called for renewed discussion about whether Sweeney should retain his position. As per Mike Grinnell on the podcast, he would like to see Jamie Langenbrunner take over.

The former NHL player and 2x Stanley Cup winner has been in the Bruins organization for the past 10 years. He has held positions like director of player development & player personnel advisor and assistant general manager-player personnel.

"Jamie Langenbrunner would be an interesting name. I think that's a name I want to keep out, bro," Grinnel said.

The Bruins need some change to bring back life into their team. The veterans who held fort all these years are finally looking to retire. Without any decent youngsters to take over, ineffective administration only adds to the problem.
