Columbus Blue Jackets pay homage to Johnny Gaudreau

The Columbus Blue Jackets issued an official statement mourning the loss of Johnny Hockey. In the statement, the team paid homage to the legacy left behind by one of the NHL’s most beloved stars:

“Johnny played the game with great joy which was felt by everyone who saw him on the ice. He brought a genuine love for hockey with him everywhere he played from Boston College to the Calgary Flames to Team USA to the Blue Jackets.”

The team highlighted Johnny Gaudreau’s impact on the organization:

“The impact he had on our organization and our sport was profound but pales in comparison to the indelible impression he made on everyone who knew him. Johnny embraced our community when he arrived two years ago, and Columbus welcomed him with open arms.”

The Blue Jackets concluded their statement:

“We will miss him terribly and do everything that we can to support his family and each other through this tragedy.”

There is no way that Johnny Hockey would ever be replaced. Gaudreau will forever live in the hearts and minds of those who knew him, watched him play, and got to know the wonderful human being that he was.
