The Columbus Blue Jackets were plagued by an injury to their captain, Boone Jenner, during Friday's game against the St. Louis Blues at home in Nationwide Arena.
During the second period, Jenner got himself injured while taking a puck to his face. He eventually left the ice, and later, the team announced that he would not return to complete the contest:
"Blue Jackets C Boone Jenner was struck in the face by the puck during the 2nd period of tonight’s game vs. St. Louis and will not return."
Before exiting the game, the Blue Jackets captain clocked 12:16 minutes of ice time. This season, the veteran forward has played 29 games, garnering 18 points through 13 goals and five assists.
The severity of the injury is now known. As per the team's official handle, Jenner will miss six weeks due to a broken jaw. The Columbus Blue Jackets marched on without their captain to register a 5-2 over the St. Louis Blues.

The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Jenner with the No. 37 overall pick in the 2011 NHL draft. He made his league debut during the 2013–14 season. He had 28 points on 15 goals and 13 assists in 72 games in his rookie season.
Following veteran Nick Folgno's departure to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boone Jenner was named the new captain of the Blue Jackets in the 2021–22 season.
